Large ASW Corvette Kasimov
Project 1124M / Grisha V class

The Grisha class antisubmarine ship is designed to to find and destroy high-speed enemy submarines and warships escort convoys in the near sea zone. The first series of Grishas was built from 1968-74, but successive improvements to the design led to four discrete versions, three for the navy and one sub-class for the KGB coastal patrols. Classified by the Russians as small anti-submarine ships, the Grishas pack a heavy anti-submarine armament into a relatively small hull. Combined with a respectable anti-aircraft armament, this makes the Grishas much more effective than the profusion of older escort vessels that were retired in the late 1980s.

Large ASW corvette MPK-199 laid down on 20 Februsry 1984 at the Leninskaya Kuznitsa Shipyard, Kiev (yard No.005), launched on 07 December 1985, commissioned on 07 October 1986.

From 18 December 1985 - Komsomolets Armenii, from 15 February 1992 - MPK-199, from 2001 - Kasimov.

Now in service.
