Project 23040G

Project 23040G hydrographic boat is designed in accordance with the technical requirements of the Navy High Command and is intended for surveying the bottom and examining navigational hazards at depths of up to 400 metres, as well as for surveying the relief with a single-beam echo depth-sounder at depths of up to 2000 metres.

The boat is a steel single-deck self-propelled boat, with a transom aft end, with an aft working deck arrangement, with an aluminum superstructure in the middle part and a wheelhouse, with an aft arrangement of the engine room and cargo hold. To increase maneuverability, the boat is equipped with a two-shaft propulsion system with fixed-pitch propellers, a bow thruster and is able to move at low speeds of 4-6 knots. The boats of this project also have a modern integrated bridge system, which provides the helmsman with all the necessary information from the bow and stern control panels.

Large Hydrographic Boat Boris Slobodnik laid down on 17 May 2018 at the Nizhegorodsky Teplokhod Shipyard, Bor, (yard No.1204), launched on 10 October 2019, commissioned on 17 June 2021 and assigned to the Black Sea Fleet.
