The first deep-sea underwater vehicle for the USSR Navy was Poisk-2,
Project 1832, developed by LPMB Rubin. The underwater vehicle was intended for
researching the aquatic environment and the ocean floor, detecting and examining
underwater objects, as well as for performing special underwater work in the interests
of the Navy. In total, only 4 units were built for this project. Deep-submergence
vehicle AGA-8 laid down on 16 May 1975 at the Leningradskoe admiralteyskoe obyedinenie
(yard No.01651). In 1977 renamed to AS-8. Launched on 08 May 1979, commissioned
on 29 December 1979 and was assigned to the Black Sea Fleet. The submarine
was part of the 288th group of special purpose submarines of the Rescue Group
of the Black Sea Fleet. On 22 May 1998 the submarine AS-8 was decommissioned
and excluded from the lists of the Black Sea Fleet. Specifications |
